Hello, and welcome to our website (last updated January 2025)! We are The Sustainable Dye Chemistry Laboratory, focused on making the world a better place one dye molecule at a time. Our lab is headed by Dr. Tova N. Williams Cherry. At the heart of our research interests is the design, development, and application of synthetic and bio-based dyes for incorporation into polymeric materials, using methods that prioritize sustainable chemistry practices to create solutions that reduce environmental impact without sacrificing performance. While our work includes applied projects aimed at addressing real-world challenges, we are actively expanding our focus on fundamental research to deepen the understanding of dye chemistry and material interactions. Of particular current interest, in this respect, are dyes that exhibit hydrophobicity and photostability.
